Jazz-hop top 20

Long Arm - The Branches [2011]
Pretty much the most epic instrumental jazz-hop album ever. A Russian native with classical jazz training creates beautiful soundscapes full of irregular rhythms, sounds many different instruments and recordings from the street and mixing them into a melodic wintertime story.

Damu The Fudgemunk - Spare Time [2008]
Raw as fuck instrumental jazz-hop, all around epic sample-digging muthafucka (best description ever)

40 Winks - It's The Trip [2011]
Same record label as Long Arm (Project:Mooncircle can do no wrong). 40 Winks is a Belgian beatmaker and just like Long Arm, his albums are equally full-sounding and interesting.

The Q4 - Sound Surroundings [2010]
Project:Mooncircle is a sign of quality. This LP is a joy to behold. A must-have for any fan of jazz-hop.

Artofficial - Fist Fights And Foot Races [2008]
One of the best known representatives of live jazz-hop. They've got a distinct organic feel to them.

Ave.To - Three Way Intersection [2008]
Basically the perfect instrumental jazz-album: not Japanese, not boring and repetitive. Yet, extremely unknown.

Dday One - Heavy Migration [2008]
Heavy-sounding instrumental jazz-hop. Beautiful, dark and depressive sounds. Cratedigging samplejunky tier.

Hidden Orchestra - Night Walks [2010]
From the 'Other' section; jazz-dnb?

Gramatik - Beatz & Pieces Vol. 1 [2011]
If you visit /mu/ regularly you should already know this. A German beatmaker who shares his creation freely. Incredibly good stuff.

Whiskey Blanket - Credible Forces [2007]
Personal all-time favorite album. This is what got me into jazz-hop. Three classically trained jazz musicians from Boulder, Colorado, creating excellent thought-provoking rap music.

Blazo - Reflections [2012]
As promised, some Blazo (there's more of him to come in future threads). Polish beatmaker, calm and cool stuff lots of people love.

Ace & Pearl - Serendipity [2010]
I don't even know how this had managed to escape me for two whole years. It's a boy-girl duo who clearly love jazz-hop. They sound like Corinne Bailey Rae with a palpable hip-hop feel. New personal favorite.

Eightrack Mind - Hardly Human [2007]
MOrganic jazz-hop: real instruments played by a band. Can you dig it?

Finale & Spier 1200 - Develop [2007]
An underground classic. Finale's voice is unmistakably recognizable. Yet this album is seldom recognized - youtube sample is low quality.

A Cat Called Fritz - A Tape Called Mondayjazz Mix [2009]
Aside from this mixtape, A Cat Called Fritz has only released EPs which is a pity, because this is smoooth.

Haiku D'Etat - Coup de Theatre [2004]
A trio of L.A. underground hip-hop grandmasters. You will listen to this very carefully.

Printempo - Printempo [2009]
"Printempo" is Esperanto for "Spring" and that's how if sounds like. This is unique among all the instrumental jazz-hop, because it sounds so good and no one knows about the cats who made it (some dudes from Poland).

Kenichiro Nishihara - Humming Jazz [2008]
There is so much japanese jazz-hop it's almost maddening. This I at least enjoy; the sample track blew me away the first time I heard it.

Tonda Trio - Slow Bullets [2007]
A Japanese trio of whom I only know Bulljun. Mellow as fuck, makes for a very pleasant listen while sitting in an armchair and shit.
